Orange Coast College Wins Orange Empire Conference Supremacy Award

COSTA MESA, CA -The Orange Coast College athletic department has claimed the Orange Empire Conference Supremacy Award for the 22nd time over the past 25 years.

Sparked by six conference titles, the Pirates finished the school year with 146.5 points, edging out Riverside College, which finished with 139. Fullerton (114), Saddleback (111), Golden West (87), Santa Ana (80), Cypress (79.5), Irvine Valley (69) and Santiago Canyon (53) complete the scoring.

Points are totaled off of a point system, with 10 points awarded to the conference champion, eight points for second, seven points for third and so on.

OCC won conference titles in men's and women's cross country, men's golf and men's and women's swimming and shared the OEC title with Riverside in women's track and women's volleyball.

In addition to the high number of conference titles, the Pirates also claimed state titles in women's volleyball and swimming and finished atop the standings for the Pepsi/NATYCAA Cup, honoring the top athletic department among all California community colleges.
