All-Orange Empire Conference Softball Team Announced

The Orange Empire Conference fastpitch softball coaches selected Riverside Community College’s sophomore shortstop Jackie Serna as the conference’s most valuable player for the 2010 season while Cypress College freshman Katrina Pinkowski was selected as the conference pitcher of the year.

Serna batted .379 in conference games with a double, triple, and five home runs for a .690 slugging percentage.  Overall, she batted .422 on the season with six doubles, a triple, eight home runs and 41 runs batted in.

Pinkowski had the lowest ERA of any pitcher during conference games (1.03) on the way to posting an 11-3 record with one save and limiting opponents to a .172 batting average.  On the season she was 20-5 with a 1.85 ERA.

Joining Serna on the all-conference team were Riverside teammates Audriana Gutierrez, Tracy Hampton, Patti Masner, and Stephanie Szweb.  Joining Pinkowski on the list were Cypress teammates Vanessa Alvarado, Amanda Fama, and Nicole Nobbe.

Saddleback was represented by twins Kelly and Sarah Bosshart, Katie Doering, and state home run leader Starr White while Fullerton had Kelsey Marker, Jackie Munoz, Diana Payan, and Chelsea Schaal make the all-conference list.

Santa Ana had a lone representative in Sarah Steinbeck, while Santiago Canyon saw Jessica Brillantes and Chelsea Navarette make the all-conference list.  Golden West’s Lauren Beard, Sheila Samarin, and Amanda Stropko were each selected as was Katrina Garr from Orange Coast.

Riverside head coach Michelle Daddona was named as the conference Coach of the Year.
