Irvine Valley’s Washington Named Player of the Year, IVC’s Hanks Named Coach of the Year
After being named a 2018-19 Orange Empire Conference (OEC) First-Team All-Conference honoree, sophomore guard Anai Washington has been named the OEC Most Valuable Player following an incredible season. After being named a 2018-19 Orange Empire Conference (OEC) First-Team All-Conference honoree, sophomore guard Anai Washington has been named the OEC Most Valuable Player following an incredible season. IVC Head Coach Julie Hanks reels in her second-consecutive OEC Coach of the Year award to highlight this year's 2019-20 All-OEC teams.
Washington was the most efficient shooter in the conference by posting a conference-pacing 55.8 shooting percentage. She was third in the conference in scoring with a 17.9 points-per-game mark. She landed in double-digit scoring in each conference contest highlighted by dropping a season-high 32 points in a victory over Saddleback. She closed out the season by dropping 20 or more points in her final three games.
Hanks hauls in her second-consecutive Coach of the Year award following a season in which she led her team to a flawless 12-0 record in conference play. She earned an overall record of 24-2 and holds the sixth seed in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern Regional Playoffs.
