Defending Champion Gauchos Win at Mesa Linda Course


Saddleback freshman Brittney Do carded a 1-over-par 71 to earn medalist honors and lead her Gaucho teammates to the team title in an Orange Empire Conference match at the Costa Mesa Country Club's Mesa Linda course this week.

Three of Do's teammates posted scores in the 80's to help Saddleback post a team score of 323 to comfortably distance themselves from runner-up Irvine Valley (335) while Mt. San Antonio was two more shots behind in third place at 337.  Deanna Pagaduan carded an 81 for the Gauchos while freshman Tannaz Khazeni added an 83 and Brooke Yafckli posted an 88.

Irvine Valley saw Kylie Sok post a 77 and Vera Yuan added a 78 to pace the Lasers to second place while Mt. San Antonio's Mackenzie Kelly was the runner-up for individual medalist honors after posting a 76.  The Mounties received an 82 from Ryane Broughton and an 84 from Alex Le Mons.  Fullerton's Kaylee Jeon came in with an 80 with Hornet teammate Gwen Bates carding an 85.

The OEC teams have next week off and will return to conference competition on Wednesday, October 4, at the Temecula Creek course.
