SCC's Brooke Mays Leads All-Conference Selections

Santiago Canyon College's Brooke Mays was named the Orange Empire Conference Most Valuable Player at the annual OEC coaches meeting held at Cypress College. Mays was joined on the All-Orange Empire Conference Team by eight teammates as the Hawks claimed their 12th straight Orange Empire Conference Championship. The other top honor, Coach of the Year, went to Saddleback College's BJ McNicol who led the Gauchos to a second-place finish this season. McNicol also guided Saddleback to its first-ever win over Santiago Canyon College on October 9. The Gauchos repeated that feat later in the season, as they completed the season sweep of the Hawks with a win on November 10.

For Mays, she led the Orange Empire Conference with 15 goals in 16 OEC contests while also finishing tied for the conference lead with 11 assists. On the season, Mays finished in the top-five in the state with 23 goals while finishing in the top-10 with 15 assists.

Santiago Canyon also had four players named First-Team All-OEC and four players named Second-Team All-OEC. Jade Anderson, Jameelah Powell, Danielle Snook and America Quintana were each named First-Team while Kylie Klein, Renee De la Torre, Alyssa Regalado and Krista Talamo were named Second-Team.

Saddleback was well represented as the second-place Gauchos had three players on each team. Danielle Scelsi, Brittany Bartle and Sabrina Garrido were each named First-Team while Brittney Stevens, Cassidy Celani and Breanna Taboada were named Second-Team.
